Some people are made to be storytellers, and Tom Allen is one of them.
And what a story he has to tell!
Ever wonder what it would feel like to head out on a bike one day, figuring you’ll pedal around the world?
What it would be like to pedal, day after day, through foreign cultures and lands…alone?
Well, if you don’t have 3.5 years to spare, don’t worry.
Luckily, Tom has filmed his entire adventure and put it together in an amazing feature-length film entitled Janapar.
During our interview, Tom not only gives us a behind the scenes look at the making of Janapar, but also dives into the art of storytelling, and how to hone both your video and storytelling skills.
He also teaches us how anyone can get started with adventure cycling, including how to begin for the price of a round of drinks (or $39.92, to be exact).
If you’re interested in starting to see the world from two wheels or want a sneak peek at how the video progressed (hint: not logically), have a listen!

For the first time on the Extra Pack of Peanuts Podcast, I’m joined by TWO people on the other side, Dave and Deb of the wildly popular travel blog, ThePlanetD.com.
Billed as “Canada’s Adventure Couple”, Dave and Deb discuss what adventure travel really is, and how two normal people like themselves are able to do some pretty abnormal travel quests (and all along, I thought I was interviewing super athletes)!
In addition to telling some amazing stories, like how they drove across two continents or biked the entire length of Africa, they’ll also provide logistical advice on how you can begin an adventure travel experience.
- What tour companies might work for you.
- How to pick your first adventure travel trip.
- What health insurance you should have (and why you shouldn’t be scared of hospitals in other countries).
- And even how to do bring adventure to your home if you can’t travel
And what I really love about this interview is that Dave and Deb then both open up about what travel means to them, and talk candidly about how it saved their marriage and the joys (and obstacles) of traveling as a couple.
Dave and Deb are two of the most energetic and passionate people I’ve met, so you can imagine what it’s like having them both on at once.
Positivity and enthusiasm radiate from the podcast!
If you’ve dreamed of doing travel that is a little less ordinary, go have a listen…and be bouncing off the walls the rest of the day!

In this episode of the Extra Pack of Peanuts Podcast, Jay Hoffman, founder, and CEO of Rocketmiles sits down to discuss how savvy travelers can earn thousands of frequent flyer miles per hotel stay as opposed to just a few hundred.
Jay is a self-proclaimed frequent flyer addict who once headed the loyalty program at United MileagePlus before moving to Groupon.
From his experience at those two places, he saw the need for a place where frequent flyer lovers like himself could go and have the opportunity to earn large chunks of miles from their hotel stays, not just tiny amounts that would take forever to add up.
With the mission of giving people more vacations, Rocketmiles was born!
Since launching in April, Jay says that one customer has already been able to rack up 450,000 frequent flyer miles just from hotel stays with Rocketmiles, which is enough to fly 2 people anywhere in the world, first-class, for free!
So if you’re someone who is looking for yet another way to build up your stash of frequent flyer miles and take that dream vacation even sooner than you realized, you won’t want to miss what Jay has to say!
