You are really digging our “countdown” style podcasts lately so we are giving you another one but this time we are diving into the 16 best places to live for at least 3 years. We aren’t talking about vacations or short-haul stays but living day to day life like a local, embracing the culture fully, & truly settling into the places we discuss in today’s podcast.
This one is a little more high stakes because Trav has a love of buying real estate and so at any point one of these places could become a reality so I (Heather) had to think long and hard about the possible future commitment this episode could be making for me.
We each picked 7-8 places (hello, honorable mentions) where we could live for 3 years and you’ll have to listen to see if we had any places make both lists. Can anyone say moving possibilities?!

Nick and I have been a lot of places over the past however many years.
But somehow I’m pretty sure Nick’s country count keeps beating mine!
Today we discuss our favorite cities around the world. We get through #10 – #5 for both of us today, complete with a ton of honorable mentions (you did know that was gonna happen right?) and a list of places that would NEVER make it onto our Top 10 lists.
Are these the best cities in the world?
I reserve the right to change my mind!
What are your top 10 cities, and which one are you going back to first?
While exploring Yangon in Myanmar we stumbled across an amazing array of buildings left over from the country’s time as a British colony. Some were falling to ruins, but others had been restored to some of the most beautiful buildings we’d seen during our travels.
So that gave us an idea.
What WERE some of the best buildings we’d seen on our travels? The best examples of architecture? Both ancient and new?
So here we are, Heather and I, each laying out our top 10 feats of architecture. From the coastlines of Portugal to the peninsulas of Japan, we span the globe detailing our favorite buildings around the world.
In Part 1 we detail our honorable mentions and the first 5 off each of our lists. Check back on Thursday for part 2, where we discuss even more places that are going to get you yearning for travel once again!
Portugal is one of our favorite countries in the world.
It’s also one of the cheapest options in western Europe.
Heather and I talk about where to go, what to do, and the best places to eat and drink! From getting completely lost in a rain storm to finding the Harry Potter bookstore we talk about some of our most memorable experiences in Portugal, and it leaves us aching to go back!
