About the Show
Creating Insatiable Wanderlust Since 2013
Every Tuesday Trav and Heather fill your heart with wanderlust and your head with knowledge.
Sometimes we’ll interview amazing travelers, like the guy who went around France on a little red scooter or the guy who spent 5 years going to every country in Africa (and climbing the tallest peak in each). Sometimes we’ll give you practical advice, like our 47 best gifts for travelers or 21 ways to survive a long haul flight. Sometimes we’ll drop some lists on ya (we love lists!) like our top 10 ice cream in the world or our top 25 breweries. And sometimes we’ll tell you all the best things to do at a specific destination, like the best seafood in Croatia or where to eat pizza in Rome.
But we’ll always have fun, always get (probably too) excited, and always say the word boutique wrong.
Obviously, this year travel has been a lot different but we are still going to cover the nerdy statistics of 2020 in the traveling we have been able to do. We’ll figure out about how many miles we traveled, how many different places we slept in, and how many states we visited plus much, much more!
To say that we didn’t get to any of the places we had on our 2020 Travel Wishlist would be an understatement but that is what makes our 2021 list that much more special. We have a vaccine being rolled out so we are crossing our fingers to be able to get out and travel this coming year. Heather and I are going through our top 5/6 destinations (and some honorable mentions), including a couple of surprising destinations from us both.
We are trying something different today as we have crowdsourced from you our EPOP community, over on Instagram, all of your favorite Christmas movies. We had you list your top 5 by rank and each number had a point amount which ended up giving us the top 10…yes, there was math, and yes, we did use a calculator because we are all business here ????.
It is time for another throwdown showdown (requested by the EPOP community) and we are combining it with the holiday season to decide which is better a cold location Christmas or a warm location Christmas. Do you want to get away from the cold and sometimes dreary weather or celebrate all that the holidays are in a traditional snowy weather place?
It is time to hit the road but we are putting a winter spin on it. We have listed our top 5 (each) winter road trips and are sharing them with you and with each other. Some of these we have taken but not necessarily in the wintertime which puts a whole new lens on the experience.
Heather and I are talking about our top 5 places (each) that we would like to spend the Christmas season. Of course, they are ranked but do you think any place made both lists?
It’s great to practice thankfulness all year long but it’s definitely in overdrive during this season and we couldn’t be happier. So to continue in the celebrations, Heather and I look back at the past year (as difficult as it was) and reveal the people & things we are most thankful for in 2020.
Joining me today is someone who has visited 98 countries, lived in 5, and who figures he’ll settle down when he’s 95, former business traveler and now strictly pleasure seeker, Malcolm Teasdale from MalcolmJTeasdale.com.
We are doing things a little different this time around because, well…2020 has been a different type of year. This year we are keeping our list to only 20 travel items that are great for regular travel, of course, but are also useful right now during COVID which means these items are good for everyday life and for current travel life (domestic travel in the US, road trips, and staycations).
Joining me today is someone who once tried to sail from Norway to France and failed, who decided to ride a bike 5,000 miles from Alaska to Mexico but didn’t know how to change a tire, & who has gotten lost, stuck, & confused in more countries than he can count, Otto Ecroyd, author of Northbound and Down.
