When you’re on your vacation, one of the last things you want is to be sick.
But sometimes it happens.
If you do get sick or injured during your travels it can be a challenge to figure out what exactly you should do. Being in a different culture, with different rules, can make us feel even more powerless in the face of our injuries, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

On the train from Paris to Luxembourg I got a sore throat. The next day I was dead in the water. I could barely talk, and it felt like I was hit by a truck. I slept for half the day and was a lot better after picking up some super overpriced cough drops at a local pharmacy.
Then right before we left Kuala Lumpur I got Malaysia’s Revenge and spent all of our time in Singapore in and out of bathrooms. But at least they weren’t squatter toilets like they were in KL! It’s my fault because I kept eating the local food even after I originally got sick, but who knows when we’d be in that part of the world again so I suffered through it and was happy I did.
@Ken- When in KL, you’ve GOT to power through it and keep eating. Interestingly enough, KL laid up Heather and the two friends we were with last time, but I was fine. I think the trick is to just keep eating more!
And I agree…a little bit of rest goes a LONG way sometimes.
